Mrs. Lisa Baird

I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of Chinook’s Edge School Division and to have the opportunity to lead the brand-new Waskasoo Middle School. After three years of planning, collaboration, and hard work, I’m beyond excited to open the doors and begin this next chapter alongside our students, staff, and families. It’s truly a privilege to be part of building something so meaningful for the Penhold community.
I’ve lived in Red Deer for the past 18 years, having moved from Olds—where I grew up—to attend Red Deer College. I completed my Bachelor of Education through the University of Alberta Collaborative program, and in 2018, I earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Alberta.
Together with my husband Adam, and our two children, Hudson and Lennon, we live on an acreage between Red Deer and Penhold. We love spending time outdoors—skiing in the mountains in winter, and enjoying time at our cabin, camping, boating, and travelling in the summer. I also enjoy playing volleyball, reading, and exploring nature in my spare time.
It is an honour to serve as the first principal of Waskasoo Middle School. I am incredibly proud of the vision, dedication, and community spirit that have brought us to this point. I look forward to working with our amazing staff to create a school culture where every student feels seen, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.
